How Scholars Are Chosen or Selection Process
The selection process for Emory University’s merit-based scholarships is competitive. Each year, around 8,000 to 10,000 students apply for the Scholar Programs, with only 175 to 200 students being chosen as finalists. Finalists are invited to visit Emory University’s campus for interviews and activities designed to introduce them to the opportunities the university offers. During their visit, scholars engage with current students, faculty, and administrators to gain insights into life at Emory.
Note: that Emory University’s merit-based scholarships are distinct from its financial aid programs. While scholarships are awarded based on merit, financial aid is granted based on need. Students eligible for both may receive merit-based scholarships first, with additional need-based grants or loans awarded as necessary to cover remaining expenses.
