Overview

The role of the Finance Manager – Operations is pivotal in maintaining robust financial management and control within MSI Nigeria Reproductive Choices’ service channels. This position entails performing supportive supervision visits, contributing to financial reporting, analyzing data for strategic decisions, and managing payroll processes efficiently. The Finance Manager collaborates closely with procurement and logistics teams, oversees stock management, and ensures adherence to financial policies and procedures.

The Finance Manager plays a crucial part in supporting the Finance Director in achieving financial objectives and upholding integrity within the organization. Key Objectives

  • Implement and ensure sound financial controls across all service delivery channels of MSI Nigeria Reproductive Choices.
  • Supervise month-end financial processes and conduct quarterly supportive supervision visits to regional offices to ensure compliance with all controls.
  • Contribute to the preparation of monthly management and periodic statutory accounts and reports.
  • Provide detailed analysis of monthly reports to assist the Finance Director in strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure regular bank reconciliation for all country bank accounts and maintain a proper transaction filing system for all financial activities.
  • Manage payroll processes, including statutory deductions and remittances, ensuring proper allocation to projects as per Level of Effort.
  • Support project and statutory audits and advise the Finance Director on updating financial procedures and policies as needed.
  • Collaborate with the procurement committee to ensure procurement activities adhere to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with finance officers, project managers, and regional managers to ensure correct coding and review transactions in SUN regularly for accurate charging and allocation.
  • Participate actively in monthly management report meetings and balance sheet reviews, ensuring timely completion of all action points.
  • Engage in the annual Business Planning process and quarterly forecasting, providing timely support to meet deadlines.
  • Monitor staff debts monthly, ensuring timely liquidation of expenses.
  • Continuously build the capacities of finance team members through effective performance management systems, developing KPIs, and ensuring their implementation.
  • Perform any other duties as requested by the Finance Director or other senior management team members. The job description may be adjusted based on departmental and organizational needs.

Required Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • A degree with a minimum of 2nd class upper division and recognized professional qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, etc.
  • 5-7 years of post-NYSC experience in a similar role within an NGO/INGO environment.
  • Familiarity with donors like USAID, ECHO, DFID, etc.
  • Proficiency in using SUNSYSTEMS Accounting package, Q&A, and other accounting software.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to multitask, manage workloads, and produce high-quality, timely work.
  • Good team player with flexibility in collaborating with colleagues.
