Key Responsibilities

As a Safety and Health Support Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of the site leadership team and the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) Contractor’s organization. Your responsibilities may also extend to other Safety, Security, Health, and Environmental (SSHE) issues, status updates, and metrics.

Primary Functions

  • Safety Management System Implementation: Provide continuous support to various organizations to help them implement the Safety Management System and achieve safety objectives. This includes developing safety processes related to risk assessment, safety training, asset integrity, safe operations, contractor safety, emergency preparedness, and incident investigations.
  • Field Inspections: Conduct thorough inspections of onshore and offshore oil/gas facilities, project construction sites, drilling rigs, and support facilities such as office buildings, warehouses, and communities. Collaborate with business lines to identify safety concerns, develop solutions, and create practical, cost-effective corrective actions.
  • Safety Studies Participation: Engage in various safety studies and activities including Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOPs), Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), incident investigations, compliance reviews, and insurance surveys.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is preferred.
  • Relevant Experience: Demonstrated experience in construction safety-related positions, particularly in the oil and gas sector.
  • Security Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of security processes and procedures.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using computers and programs such as PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English to function effectively within a project team.
  • Cultural Adaptability: Preferably, experience working in multicultural and multilingual environments, particularly in emerging nations.
  • Willingness to Travel: Willingness to travel or live away from home for extended periods.
  • Project Excellence: Proven ability to deliver outstanding SSHE performance in past projects.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to develop successful internal and external working relationships with a focus on teamwork.
  • Physical Fitness: Must be fit to work in a construction field environment, which includes navigating uneven surfaces, large structures, climbing, bending, and enduring extended periods of standing and physical exertion.
  • Adaptability to Harsh Environments: Capability to work in extreme temperatures, remote locations with limited amenities, and under changing priorities.
  • Independent Work Ethic: Ability to set priorities and work independently while appreciating company processes and procedures.
  • Self-Sufficiency: No additional training will be provided aside from the company’s specific safety standards and procedures.
