Jobs In Abuja: Logistics Assistant at Medecins Du Monde

Are you looking for a dynamic career opportunity in logistics? Médecins du Monde (MdM) is seeking a qualified Logistics Assistant to join their team in Abuja. This full-time role offers a competitive salary ranging from ₦200,000 to ₦300,000 per month. The Logistics Assistant will work under the supervision of the Deputy Logistics Coordinator and will be crucial in ensuring efficient procurement, stock management, and maintenance of the organization’s facilities.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement and Purchasing

  • Efficient Local Purchasing: Execute local purchases of goods as directed by the Logistician, adhering to MdM’s procurement procedures.
  • Quality and Cost Optimization: Ensure purchases meet the best price/quality ratio available in the market.
  • Quotation and Price Verification: Gather quotations and verify prices for goods and services.
  • Receipt and Invoice Management: Ensure suppliers properly complete all receipts and invoices for local purchases.
  • Market Surveys: Conduct market surveys in collaboration with the Admin team as required.
  • Delivery and Validation: Oversee the delivery of purchased items, collect proof of delivery, and ensure invoice validation by the Admin team.
  • Logistics Filing: Maintain and update all logistics filing systems.
  • Weekly Allowance Management: Manage a weekly allowance, request advances, and justify expenses by month-end following MdM procedures.

Stock Management

  • Goods Receipt and Storage: Check, record, and store received goods under the Logistician’s supervision.
  • Inventory Checks: Conduct regular physical inventory checks.
  • Package Verification: Inspect packages upon arrival and report any issues such as missing or damaged goods.
  • Stock Card Updates: Immediately update stock cards with receipt document references.
  • Storage Organization: Ensure all items are well-organized, protected, identified, and easily accessible.

Vehicle Management

  • Maintenance Supervision: Ensure daily and weekly maintenance of vehicles by drivers and provide feedback on maintenance needs.
  • Logbook Oversight: Supervise drivers in maintaining accurate logbooks.
  • Vehicle Follow-Up: Fill out the monthly vehicle follow-up document.
  • Movement Coordination: Organize car movements based on planned schedules and assign drivers accordingly.

Facility Maintenance

  • Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance of office and guesthouse equipment.
  • Repair Coordination: Manage repairs by contacting repairers and purchasing necessary materials.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Foster good relationships with other departments to ensure smooth project implementation.
  • Flexibility: Adapt to changing duties to provide high-quality services to beneficiaries.
  • Security Reporting: Report any security issues immediately to the security focal point.
  • Miscellaneous Duties: Perform other tasks as requested by the Deputy Logistics Coordinator and coordination team.

Required Qualifications and Skills

Education and Experience

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Professional Experience: At least 2 years in a relevant field.

  • Language Proficiency: Fluent in English (speaking, reading, and writing); proficiency in Kanuri, Hausa, and French is an added advantage.
